Young Leaders

Young Leaders are Explorers who volunteer to help at Beavers, Cubs or Scouts. Most YLs are also members of one of the other Explorer Units but you can join and just be a Young Leader without going to any other Explorer meetings.

You have one compulsory training module (Module A) which takes about two hours. You should attend this training within three months of starting.

There are a number of other modules available, which deal with various aspects of leadership in the Scouts.

During the course of helping at Beavers, Cubs or Scouts you will undertake 4 "missions", which are projects you plan with the Section Leaders to put into practice what you have learnt.

On completion of all the modules and missions you will be awarded a YL belt buckle to wear with uniform.

To enrol for training modules, or if you need any help or advice, please contact your ESLYL, Juliet Fisher, or your YL co-ordinator, Roger Plumb. email
