Quick Guide to the Duke of Edinburgh's Award

To join the Award Scheme you need to complete an application form obtainable from Roger Plumb email and return it with a cheque for 25 (30 for Gold) made payable to East Sussex Scout Association.

If you are 14 and over you can sign up for Bronze.

If you are 15 and over you can sign up for Bronze or Silver.

Over 16 you can go for Bronze, Silver or Gold.

You have until your 25th birthday to complete the Award.

When you have completed your Award you can reclaim your joining fee from District.

Each level of the Award has four sections:

For each section you work with a supervisor/assessor and agree your targets with them. They make a report on your progress at the end of the period.

The work you do for your D of E will probably also qualify you for your Chief Scout's Award (Platinum or Diamond) so make sure your ESL knows what you are doing.

When you join, you will receive a welcome pack, which gives you more information, and a membership number which you use to go online and open an e d of e account. This enables you and us to record and keep track of your progress, and you must keep it up to date.

You will probably need help along the way. Your District Advisor is Roger Plumb and your County Advisor is Derek Cleaver. For problems with e dofe you can also contact Marie Carr at Broadstone Warren (01342 826491).

We also have drop-in sessions when you can come along and ask for help and advice.
